About Cosplay Costume Closet
My name is Lori and I am a Science Fiction Geek
I came to costuming from attending science fiction conventions for many, many years. The first thing I ever sewed was an original series Star Trek Gold Command Dress costume I made by using the badly printed pattern in the Starfleet Technical Manual I wanted to wear in Omnicon in Miami around 1984. (yeah, I'm old lol). Somehow I actually managed making it and proudly wore it during the convention. This was of course long before professionally made Star Trek costumes were available.
My love of Doctor Who (original series though the current ones is great too!) caused me to knit a 7 foot striped scarf (and a bunch more of them I ended up selling at conventions - my first experience at retailing!). And my love of Star Trek made me tackle the "Burgundy Beast" from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (and a bunch more of them for members of the Star Trek club I formed and ran for many years).
While I never entered the costume contests, I always loved dressing up at conventions (even running my own science fiction convention for 13 years!) and of course, during Halloween.
My love of history led me to join the Society for Creative Anachronism and learning how to make complex Medieval and Renaissance costumes, corsets, and accessories (and also led to one of my other stores, Step Out of Time).
While I don't have the time to make costumes from scratch as much anymore, I still love mixing and matching pieces to wear when I can. But finding cool costumes to offer you is nearly as much fun as cosplaying myself (nearly).
So browse and enjoy shopping here and above all, enjoy cosplaying! And please share your costuming with me! You can share pictures on our Facebook or Instagram pages (see links below) and if there is something you need for your next costume you cannot find - contact me. I'll try to find it for you.
Here is to your next great cosplay costume!
